Motions at the General Assembly 2024

During the General Assembly, our members have the opportunity to discuss, amend and vote on motions which have been submitted by the World Board or member organisations in due time.

Voting members are invited to examine the challenges facing the organic sector and propose motions suggesting actions for the next three years. This video provides an overview of everything you need to know about member motions.

Submit your Motion

Motions should be guided by the following questions:

  • What should IFOAM – Organics International achieve over the next three-year term?
  • How is the proposed motion linked to the new strategy?
  • What should be on the agenda?

Motions should aim to ensure organic development by addressing important policy issues, our long-term strategy or positions of IFOAM – Organics International. They should be consistent with — and contribute to developing — our mission, goals, and GA-approved landmarks like Organic 3.0.

Please submit your motion before 15 May 2024 by filling in this form:

Motion Amendments and Voting

Motions are discussed, amended and voted in the order and time that the Chair determines. The Chair may allow the first speech on the motion to be made by the IFOAM member or World Board representative who submitted the original motion.

The Chair may also allow questions and answers for clarification prior to discussion and amendments. The Chair may further allow the submitter of a motion to respond directly to questions and amendments.
